The AirBNB is located 550m above sea level, just 6km (5 mins) outside of the local town of Atenas, 25km away from Juan Santamaria International Airport and 40km (20 mins) outside the capital city of San José. The property is built on 2000 m2 of lush green earth. At the property, there are many old large leafy trees.
We want you to be comfortable, and even encourage guests to come for a few hours before their flight, take a shower, rest, have a coffee or tea, and continue your journey! We are more comfortable and cheaper than spending the night or hours at the airport! 24-hour check-in is also available and the space is completely private for you and your guests.
You will be able to see an amazing number of colorful birds such as orioles, toucans, guacos, carpenters and parakeets right outside your window! You may also see some small wildlife such as iguanas and squirrels. For the more adventurous, head 60 minutes away to visit various volcanoes or travel to the Herradura and Punta Leona beaches, just 40 minutes away.
Guest access
The space is located along Highway 27, just 5 minutes away from the wonderful city of Atenas and approximately 20 minutes from San José (40km). The town has all of your necessities such as grocery stores, restaurants, and cafes along the main road where you can live like a local and eat traditional meals. Atenas has a nice tourist office, CATUCA with great souvenirs as well as massages.
The space is located in a private area, perfect for those looking to relax and retreat! Here are some things of interest to do during your stay!

♥︎ The space is made of recycled shipping containers, and one of the units is an old bus painted by local artists.
♥︎ No trees were cut during construction or the building process.
♥︎ For decoration, bamboo was used - which is one of the fastest growing plants on earth.
♥︎ The walls are made of stone and 100% natural materials.
♥︎ All toiletry products are organic (soap, shampoo, etc).
Upon arrival, guests will be able to self check-in with a keypad. The space is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay, so relax, unwind, and make yourself at home! Free and ample parking is available near the home. As your friendly local hosts, we are area natives, so please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the beautiful town!
Other things to note
Pets are allowed, but please advise the host in advance so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
The space is in a lush green setting but sometimes the cars from the nearby road may be a bit loud during the daytime. It is not overbearing but sometimes causes curiosity from our guests.
